Leather and business: Brazil to attend Shanghai Trade Fair with 12 individual booths

Asia accounts for 84% of global footwear exports. China alone represents 55.6% of all pairs of shoes manufactured worldwide. Having a presence in this region is essential for suppliers of materials to the footwear industry. For this reason, the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), held in Shanghai, is one of the year’s most highly anticipated events for tanneries and other companies connected to the industry.

The next edition of ACLE will take place from September 1 to 3 and will feature 12 individual booths showcasing products from Brazilian leather companies. Their participation is supported by Brazilian Leather, a project that promotes the country’s leather exports and is conducted by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

Letícia Luft, Brazilian Leather manager, who will accompany the Brazilian delegation, highlights that ACLE has also become increasingly relevant to the automotive sector, in addition to its traditional importance to the footwear industry.

“China is the world’s largest automobile manufacturer, producing 30% of all cars made globally. It is also the largest importer of automotive leather, and we have seen growing participation from this sector at ACLE year after year,” she says.

The furniture industry is another important segment among the fair’s visitors. Brazilian Leather has developed strong relationships with local manufacturing associations, helping to increase interest in Brazilian tanneries.

The 2026 edition of ACLE will bring together approximately 1,000 exhibitors from 25 countries, with an expected attendance of around 31,000 visitors. Brazilian Leather will have an exclusive booth showcasing the Leather Preview exhibition, featuring hides and leathers from several tanneries across Brazil. A dedicated team will also promote the key attributes of Brazilian production among the fair’s international audience, including sustainability, innovation and creative leather design.
