Brazilian tanneries participate in Lineapelle NY: see which companies are involved.

The United States will be the first international destination for Brazilian leather at trade fairs in 2026. On January 28 and 29, twelve Brazilian tanneries will showcase their leathers at Lineapelle New York, with the support of the Brazilian Leather project — a partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

This is a highly selective trade fair: only 89 exhibitors participate in total, as companies are carefully curated and selected. As a result, Brazilian exhibitors account for nearly 14% of the entire show. Although small in number of booths, Lineapelle New York is already the largest fair supported by Brazilian Leather outside Asia and one of the most relevant leather fairs in the world. “The audience at this event is very focused: the world’s leading leather-using brands have offices in New York, and professionals from these companies are always present at Lineapelle New York,” highlights Letícia Luft, Manager of Brazilian Leather project.

The United States is the second most important destination for Brazilian leather exports, behind only China and Hong Kong, with a predominant share (over 90%) of finished leather (with high added value). This position was maintained throughout 2025 and at the close of the year, despite the additional tariffs faced by importers and exporters in the second half of the year. Even with the country retaining its runner-up position, sales showed a downward trend during the period — alongside an intense effort by CICB to reverse the leather surcharge, a task that continues into 2026.
