US$ 6.6 Million in Business for Brazilian Leather After Trade Fair in Mexico

The five Brazilian tanneries that took part in ANPIC, held from October 22 to 24 in León, Mexico, returned to Brazil with positive outcomes for the national leather industry. Supported by the Brazilian Leather project—a partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and ApexBrasil—the companies project US$ 6.6 million in business, considering both the sales made during the event and those expected over the next 12 months.

The Brazilian group, composed of Couros Bom Retiro, Couro e Arte, Curtume Partner, OCM Best Brasil, and Pacific Leather, stood out for its diversity of leather articles, serving various industry segments and scales. The participation reinforced the growing interest of the Mexican market in Brazilian leather: imports from Brazil increased by 26.3% in value over the past year, consolidating Mexico as one of the most promising destinations for the sector.

“The results confirm that Mexico is a strategic market for Brazilian leather. The buyers’ interest and the quality of the connections established demonstrate that our product is recognized for its sustainability, design, and high added value,” said Letícia Luft, manager of Brazilian Leather, who led the initiative in León and represented the project at its institutional booth. The space also showcased the Preview do Couro collection, featuring leathers from several Brazilian tanneries.

ANPIC is Mexico’s leading trade fair for footwear and accessories materials, gathering buyers from more than 20 countries. With the outcomes achieved at ANPIC, Brazilian Leather continues to strengthen its international presence in strategic markets such as Mexico—a major supplier to the United States.
