Imports of Brazilian leather by Mexico grew 26.3% in value over the past year. A well-established supplier to the United States, Mexico is a highly industrialized country with a strong presence in the footwear, furniture, and automotive sectors. It represents a key market for Brazilian leather and is the next destination of the Brazilian Leather project — a partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). In Mexico, Brazilian companies will participate in ANPIC, held from October 22 to 24 in León.
The Brazilian exhibitors supported by Brazilian Leather at ANPIC are Couros Bom Retiro, Couro e Arte, Curtume Partner, OCM Best Brasil, and Pacific Leather. “The Brazilian group includes companies that supply a wide range of segments and industry sizes. This diversity shows that Mexico has potential for all our products,” says Letícia Luft, manager of the Brazilian Leather project, who will accompany the delegation. She will lead the exclusive Brazilian Leather booth, which will showcase hides from the latest Preview do Couro collection — featuring developments from various Brazilian tanneries and anticipating upcoming fashion trends.
At ANPIC, the Brazilian exhibitors will have the opportunity to establish new contacts and strengthen relationships with long-standing clients. The fair is the largest in its segment in Mexico, gathering key decision-makers, particularly from the footwear industry — which is why it takes place in León, the country’s leading hub for footwear intelligence and production. In addition to leather, ANPIC also features chemicals, machinery, and other materials for shoe manufacturing, along with trend areas and lectures for visitors from over 30 countries. In the footwear sector, Mexico ranks 10th globally, producing 214 million pairs per year (2024 data, World Footwear Yearbook), of which 36 million pairs are exported, 54% made of leather.
