Lineapelle Fair in Italy is the Next Destination for Brazilian Leather

From September 23 to 25, Brazilian leather will be showcased at the main commercial and trendsetting platform for the sector in Europe: Lineapelle, in Milan, Italy. Six individual stands from Brazil will be featured at the event, with the support of the Brazilian Leather project, a partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The tanneries with individual stands are: Bolzano, Courovale, Couro e Arte, Fuga Couros, Nova Kaeru, and OCM Best Brasil. “Every September, Lineapelle takes place in adjoining halls and in the same period as Simac Tanning Tech, the main technology fair for the sector. This makes participation in Lineapelle even more important, as it allows us to gain sharper insights into innovation research and new suppliers during this week in Milan,” explains Rogério Cunha, from CICB’s Trade Intelligence, who will also be engaged in a series of parallel activities for representation and advocacy of the Brazilian leather industry during Lineapelle.

From January to August this year, Italy alone accounted for 11.2% of all Brazilian leather exports (ranking third among destinations). In terms of area, Italy represents 13% of Brazil’s total leather exports. In the fashion industry, Italians are recognized for high-standard production and trendsetting: according to the World Footwear Yearbook, Italy ranked third among the world’s largest footwear exporters by value last year, with US$ 12.6 billion in sales worldwide. Looking exclusively at leather footwear, Italy is the world’s second-largest exporter by value, behind only Vietnam and ahead of China. It is also worth noting that 46% of the pairs exported by Italy are made of leather.
