Fairs & Events
March 10th, 2025
The APLF Leather fair is the world’s leading leather trade event. Its next edition will take place from March 12 to 14, featuring 32 individual exhibitors linked to Brazil’s tanning industry. This participation is supported by the Brazilian Leather project, a partnership between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
This event is a landmark for the sector globally, as it has the power to signal potential market growth and trends for the entire year. APLF covers all leather-consuming segments in Hong Kong and China, which together represent the largest importers of Brazilian leather, accounting for 33.8% of total exports in 2024, a 20.8% increase compared to 2023. “The fair also attracts major buyers from other key regions in the leather industry, such as the United States (the second-largest destination for our exports in 2024) and Europe (with Italy as a benchmark, having imported 11.4% of Brazil’s leather last year),” highlights Rogério Cunha, from CICB’s Trade Intelligence team. He will be in Hong Kong for a series of activities focused on trade and institutional representation of Brazilian leather.
Brazilian Leather project manager Letícia Luft shares that, in addition to Brazilian exhibitors, other countries will also have collective pavilions at APLF, including Italy, France, Australia, and Turkey. “The global leather industry is fully represented at this fair, so we always invest significant efforts in promoting business opportunities and also the image of Brazilian leather here,” she states. As Letícia emphasizes, during the three days of the fair, the Brazilian leather sector will be fully represented with a Brazilian Leather project booth, featuring materials showcasing the national industry’s attributes and the Leather Preview exhibition, displaying special leather selections developed by various tanneries from Brazil. This initiative enhances Brazil’s presence in Hong Kong and is expected to yield results throughout 2025.
