Brazilian tanneries set to participate in ANPIC fair in Mexico

Mexico has emerged as a strategic and expanding market for Brazilian leather exports. From January to September 2024, there has been a 34.5% increase in Brazilian leather and hide sales to Mexico. In this thriving environment, the next trade fair showcasing Brazilian tanneries, ANPIC, will take place from October 23 to 25 in León. This participation is supported by the Brazilian Leather project – a collaboration between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The Brazilian companies participating in ANPIC, backed by the Brazilian Leather project, include CBR – Couros Bom Retiro, Mastrotto Brasil, OCM Best Brasil, Pacific Leather, and Curtume Partner. “Mexico is highly industrialized and holds significant relevance in the production of footwear, furniture, and automobiles. We are growing in this market, and ANPIC is one of the key trade fairs for the sectors we serve in the country. Our presence is highly anticipated at the event, where we will also have an institutional stand, reinforcing the attributes of the entire industry,” says Letícia Luft, manager of Brazilian Leather, who will accompany the group to Mexico.

Focusing on the footwear industry, Mexico ranks 9th globally, with an annual production of 217 million pairs (2023 data), of which 31 million are exported, 64% of them made from leather. Brazil is the second-largest supplier of leather to Mexico.

At ANPIC, Brazilian exhibitors will have the opportunity to forge new contacts and strengthen relationships with existing clients. The fair is the largest in its sector in Mexico, bringing together key decision-makers, especially in the footwear industry – the reason it is held in León, the country’s main hub for footwear intelligence and production. ANPIC not only showcases leather but also chemicals, machinery, and other materials used in footwear production, along with trend areas and lectures, attracting visitors from over 30 countries.
