Brazilian Leather to showcase 14 tanneries at Lineapelle New York Fair

The United States, the second largest destination for Brazilian leather exports, will soon host the Lineapelle New York fair on July 17 and 18, featuring 14 Brazilian tanneries with individual booths. This initiative is supported by the Brazilian Leather project, a collaboration between the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
Letícia Luft, manager of the Brazilian Leather project, emphasizes that this is the fair with the second largest participation of Brazilian tanneries in 2024, second only to APLF in Hong Kong. "We are motivated and fully prepared for this edition. We will have activations in specialized media within the U.S. and the support of partners and diplomatic representatives in New York, including a visit from consulate representatives to the fair," says Letícia.
The figures for leather exports from Brazil to the United States reflect this optimism. In 2023, Brazilian leather sales to the United States reached $178 million, accounting for 16% of total international shipments. Finished leather, which has the highest added value, dominates North American imports, comprising 92.8% of Brazilian leather purchases by value in 2023.
